Experimenting with Manual Time Tracking

So, I’ve been experimenting with time tracking over the past few months, and I’ve decided that all the online ones are terrible and overly complicated. My solution was to make a template, print it out, and run some analysis on it myself later.

I’ve made a 7 x 36 grid for Days x Half Hour time blocks, where I fill up each of the blocks from 5h30 to 22h30 divided into half hour intervals with a single word describing the activity I did. Then, I add a coloured dot beside it to indicate if it’s productive (green) or nonproductive (red). At the end, I total up everything, and put the day’s productive : nonproductive time ratio at the bottom.

I feel like it’s really useful to see how I’ve spent my time lately, and it lets me collect some data about how I manage my time, and also how much time I waste. It’s an interesting metric for sure, and I’m going to write a python script sometime later to analyze my data, though I’ll have to come up with some approach for that.
